LG CNS to Develop Globally Accepted Identification Card
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] LG CNS announced on the 26th that it is partnering with Canadian DID (Decentralized Identity) specialist company 'Evernym' to develop an ID that works anywhere in the world.
DID is a new technology that verifies an individual's identity using blockchain technology. It is an identity verification system where personal information is not stored by specific institutions or companies but owned by the individual. With a single identity verification, various services from different institutions can be used without additional authentication.
As DID technology advances, interest in a new concept of ID that can prove one's identity anywhere in the world is growing. To realize this, a unified DID standard is essential.
LG CNS and Evernym have agreed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to actively cooperate in leading the establishment of the DID standard by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and building a business foundation for global identity verification. Through this, they plan to implement a new authentication system using blockchain technology to replace international driver's licenses, passports, and more.
