Soldiers of the Army 50th Division Join Hands to Help Harvest Garlic and Onions in Daegu
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City announced on the 26th that the local military unit, the Army 50th Division, has deployed 1,500 soldiers starting from the 25th to assist with the garlic and onion harvest in Dalseong-gun’s Hyeonpung, Yuga, and Guji areas.
The Army 50th Division is conducting agricultural labor support for the busy farming season until June 19th, targeting farms struggling to secure manpower due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The Hyeonpung, Yuga, and Guji areas in Dalseong-gun are major domestic production sites for garlic and onions, where farmers produce approximately 25,000 tons annually on 436 hectares of fields.
