Busan High School Students' College Admission Briefing, This Year on 'YouTube'
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education: High School Seniors and Parents on the 26th, and 1st and 2nd Year Students on the 28th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The college entrance briefing session for high school students in the Busan area will be held 'online' this year.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 25th that the briefing session will be held via YouTube channel at 7 p.m. on the 26th for 3rd-year high school students and their parents, and at 7 p.m. on the 28th for 1st and 2nd-year high school students and their parents.
The briefing session on the 26th will introduce an analysis of the 2021 academic year admission guidelines for major universities in Seoul and universities in the Busan area, as well as strategies to respond to changes in admissions.
The 2021 academic year university admission process maintains the framework of the previous year's admission process, so confusion among examinees and parents is expected to be relatively low. Early admission is mainly based on student records, while regular admission maintains a selection policy focused on the CSAT.
The main details of next year's university admission process include a total recruitment number of 347,447, which is 419 fewer than the previous year. The proportion of early admission selection also slightly decreased by about 0.3% to 77% compared to the previous year.
The student record-based selection increased by 0.2% to 67.1%, and the regular admission selection ratio also showed a slight increase of 0.3% to 23% compared to the previous year.
The number of students recruited through essay screening in early admission decreased by 984 compared to the previous year, while special admissions for equal opportunity and regional talent continued to increase.
The briefing session on the 28th will provide strategies for responding to university admissions for the 2022-2023 academic years. The 2022 academic year admission process includes plans for a student-centered and fair university admission system reform.
The reform plan mainly includes 'structural reform of the admission process such as expansion of regular admission focused on CSAT,' 'reform of the CSAT system including subject structure, scope of questions, and CSAT-EBS linkage rate,' 'improvement of high school student record entries and strengthening transparency in university selection to enhance fairness of comprehensive student record screening,' and 'improvements in interviews, oral exams, and university-specific exams.'
The Office of Education stated, “To effectively respond to changes in the university admission system, professional teachers from the Busan Admission Support Group who are actually in charge of admission guidance at schools will conduct the online briefing session.”
