Boat Suspected of Chinese Illegal Entry Found on Taean Beach... Military and Coast Guard in Pursuit
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] A small boat, presumed to have been secretly brought in by Chinese nationals, was found on a beach in Taean-gun, Chungnam Province, prompting military authorities and the coast guard to launch a search.
According to the coast guard on the 24th, a local resident discovered the abandoned small boat on the beach in Uihang-ri, Sowon-myeon, Taean-gun at 11 a.m. the previous day and reported it to the coast guard. Inside the boat, items believed to be of Chinese origin and leftover food and beverages were found. The boat was not sold domestically, and there was no hull serial number.
Based on these circumstances, the coast guard suspects that the boat was used by Chinese nationals for illegal entry. Military and police analyzed nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and confirmed that six people who got off the boat crossed the beach and escaped.
