Daegu Teen COVID-19 Patient's Maternal Grandmother Confirmed as 4th Infection from 'Itaewon Club' Cluster
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) linked to the Itaewon club outbreak has occurred in Gyeongbuk.
The confirmed case is the maternal grandmother of a teenager living in Daegu who was infected from the Itaewon club outbreak.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 23rd, a woman in her 60s, Ms. A, living in Seongju-gun, tested positive for COVID-19. Ms. A is currently receiving treatment after being transferred to Andong Medical Center.
It was investigated that Ms. A spent a day on the 20th with her daughter living in Daegu and her grandson, Mr. B, and returned home to Seongju the next afternoon.
Mr. B is a third-generation infected person who was infected through friends living in Seoul, and Ms. A is the fourth-generation infected person.

A Gyeongbuk Province official said, "When Mr. B returned from Daegu to his home in Seongju, he rode in a car driven by his mother, who tested negative," adding, "Mr. B, who runs a small rest area, stated that he did not operate the business after returning home, and we are verifying whether this is true."
