[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] The number of foreign tourists visiting Korea last month decreased by more than 98% compared to the same period last year.

This is because, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Korea and Japan implemented mutual entry bans, and China suspended flights on all routes except one route per airline. Asian and Middle Eastern countries such as Taiwan and Hong Kong have also suspended air routes and implemented travel restrictions.
