Gwangju Bank Joins the 'COVID-19 Overcome Hope Campaign' Relay

The ‘COVID-19 Overcoming Hope Campaign’ is a campaign where participants write a message of hope to overcome the difficulties of ‘COVID-19’, post it on social networking services (SNS), and nominate the next participant.
Participating in this campaign upon the nomination of Song Kyung-yong, Dean of Graduate School at Dongshin University, Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, personally wrote the cheer phrases ‘#CheerUp Gwangju·Jeonnam #CheerUp Local Economy #CheerUp Small Business Owners’ and, together with employees who joined the campaign, delivered a message of hope to local residents going through difficult times due to ‘COVID-19’.
President Song Jong-wook said, “We will accompany our local small business owners so that they do not lose hope and can overcome the current difficult times well,” adding, “With the sense of mission as the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will do our best to fulfill the corporate social responsibility to coexist with the region.”
President Song nominated Kim Dong-chan, Chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council, as the next participant in the ‘COVID-19 Overcoming Hope Campaign’ relay.
On Gwangju Bank’s Instagram account, photos of activities related to the ‘COVID-19 Overcoming Hope Campaign’, the ‘Thanks to You Challenge’ expressing gratitude to medical staff, the ‘Good Prepayment National Campaign’ to support local small business owners and self-employed people, and the ‘Flower Farmers Support Campaign’ are posted to encourage warm interest in the campaigns. At the same time, through messages of hope and encouragement to overcome the ‘COVID-19’ crisis together with local residents, the bank is spreading positive influence.
In fact, Gwangju Bank received recognition for playing a significant role in increasing sales for small business owners by having all employees prepay a total of 210 million KRW for meals and supplies at stores near the head office and nationwide branches, leading the ‘Good Prepayment National Campaign’.
Additionally, the bank is carrying out various activities to overcome the ‘COVID-19’ crisis.
To provide rapid support funds for local small business owners affected by ‘COVID-19’, the bank directly dispatched about 40 employees to the Gwangju Credit Guarantee Foundation, fulfilling its responsibilities as a regional bank. It also donated 30,000 masks and 100 million KRW each in emergency relief funds to Gwangju Metropolitan City Hall and Jeonnam Provincial Office, and 10 million KRW each in sponsorship funds to Mokpo, Suncheon, Yeosu, and Naju cities.

Moreover, through voluntary donations and participation by employees, the bank produced and delivered 700 emergency relief boxes to vulnerable groups affected by ‘COVID-19’ in the region, as well as to medical staff at Chonnam National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital, Bitgoeul Chonnam National University Hospital, and the Gwangju City Nursing Hospital clinic.
