Woo Hee-jong to Shim Sang-jung criticizing Yoon Mi-hyang: "When we worked together, but now throwing stones... Must be respectful"
"Throwing stones without objective fact-checking"
Sim Sang-jung criticizes the Democratic Party on the 21st, saying "They must take responsibility regarding Yoon Mi-hyang allegations"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Ju-hyung] Woo Hee-jong, former leader of the Deobureo Citizen Party, criticized Sim Sang-jung, leader of the Justice Party, who called on the Democratic Party leadership to "take responsible action" regarding allegations of misuse of donations by Yoon Mi-hyang, the Democratic Party elected representative under suspicion of misappropriating funds from the Justice Memory Solidarity.
On the 22nd, Woo posted on his Facebook, "If someone who once united and shouted together over historical issues is now caught up in a public opinion campaign, isn't it basic human courtesy to at least wait until a thorough investigation confirms whether the public's concerns are justified?"
He also shared a photo of Sim attending the 1400th Wednesday Demonstration and speaking, criticizing, "Throwing stones together with others without waiting for both sides' stories and objective fact-checking."
He continued, "Joining in when receiving public attention but criticizing together before verifying facts when someone becomes the target of public opinion is very political," adding, "This is why people become negative toward politicians."
He emphasized, "I am not asking anyone to defend wrongdoing. I have no such intention either," but added, "I cannot lightly criticize someone who has worked for 30 years to correct history in this way."
Earlier, at the Justice Party executive committee meeting held at the National Assembly the previous day, Sim criticized the Democratic Party regarding suspicions about the source of funds when Yoon purchased an apartment in Suwon, saying, "The Democratic Party has so far insisted on fact-finding first but has only relied on the elected representative's personal explanations," and "There have been several reversals of facts and suspicions involving family members, so self-explanations are no longer persuasive."
