Gangnam-gu, All-Out Effort to Prevent COVID-19 Cluster Infection at Coin Noraebang
Inducing Closure with Subsidies, Checking Compliance with Life-Quarantine Rules... Over 100 Employees Deployed to Inspect PC Rooms and Others
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jung Soon-gyun) is proactively responding to prevent cluster infections by encouraging voluntary closures of coin karaoke rooms, which have recently emerged as high-risk facilities.
The district plans to provide differential support payments of up to 1.5 million KRW depending on the size and location to 14 out of 30 coin karaoke rooms in the area that have submitted closure applications, if they close for six days from the 19th to the 24th.
Unannounced inspections will be conducted on the applying businesses, and those caught operating will be excluded from receiving support.
Additionally, by the 21st, about 100 employees from the district office and community centers will be deployed to inspect compliance with quarantine rules at general karaoke rooms and PC cafes.
Violations will result in fines of up to 3 million KRW under the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act.
