Jeongeup-si Selected for 'Internet of Things Product Service Expansion Project' Contest
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jae-gil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 20th that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'Internet of Things Product Service Expansion Project' contest and will begin full-scale project implementation.
This project was evaluated last year as an excellent Internet of Things (IoT) product and service development project, and to secure the project's technological and business feasibility, it was promoted as a contest task by the Ministry of Science and ICT this year.
The city plans to invest 146 million KRW of city funds to promote the expansion of an IoT-based intelligent poultry house platform to secure a leading position in the ICT convergence industry, a high value-added industry in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
In this regard, the city signed an agreement on the same day with the Korea Information and Communication Industry Promotion Agency and Emotion Co., Ltd. to realize increased income for local poultry businesses and to drive growth in the agriculture and life sciences industries.
The city plans to distribute smart scales for optimal shipment timing confirmation to poultry farms and a Korean-style environmental control system that can automatically control the operating devices inside poultry houses.
Specifically, with a total project cost of 706 million KRW (including 350 million KRW national funds and 62.5 million KRW provincial funds), the city will support 40 smart scales and 7 environmental control devices.
Accordingly, by accurately measuring poultry and shipping at the appropriate time, feed costs will be reduced, and with the introduction of a system that can automatically control ventilation fans, lighting, feeders, waterers, and heaters inside poultry houses, labor reduction and increased farm income are expected.
Furthermore, this project is expected to revitalize the poultry industry by integrating ICT technology and to become a starting point for smart livestock farming.
