Gwangju City to Lay Sewer Pipes Around Baegun Square... Expecting Flood Damage Prevention
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] It is expected that the frequent flooding damage around Baegun Square will be resolved.
Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 20th that it has completed the installation of a new sewer pipe section from Baegun Square in Nam-gu to Wesley Credit Union in Bongseon-dong.
In August 2018, Gwangju experienced localized heavy rain exceeding 60mm per hour, causing flooding damage around Baegun Square. To resolve this flooding damage, the city planned to complete the sewer pipe construction before this year's rainy season and carried out construction simultaneously from both the starting and ending points of the sewer pipe.
In particular, to shorten the construction period, efforts such as conducting day and night work concurrently were made, resulting in the completion of concrete pouring for the sewer pipe crossing Daenam-daero at Wesley Credit Union (L=25m) in mid-last month, thus completing the sewer pipe installation process.
Gwangju plans to complete the remaining auxiliary construction and officially complete the final sewer pipe construction next month.
