Seodaemun-gu Mayor Moon Seok-jin Presents on Post-COVID-19 Education at UNESCO Webinar

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Moon Seok-jin, Mayor of Seodaemun District, will give a presentation on the topic "New Educational Governance and Partnerships After COVID-19" at the 2020 UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities webinar.
The seminar, held at 8 p.m. Korea Standard Time on the 20th (1 p.m. Central European Time), is an international event attended by 173 lifelong learning member cities from 55 countries worldwide.
The seminar is hosted by Marie Mercury, a program expert from the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), and the opening remarks will be delivered by Julie Reddy, representative of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
Mayor Moon Seok-jin, along with Sarah Hoplick de Duque, Learning Director of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), will present on the main topics.
Mayor Moon will present the achievements of Seodaemun District in supporting online school openings by partnering with the Seoul Western Education Support Office after COVID-19, providing online devices and wireless communication equipment to schools, and dispatching Teaching Assistants (TA) to support teachers' online teaching capabilities.
He will also introduce the outcomes of preparing programs for the lifelong learning center and the convergence talent education center, scheduled to open next month, including developing courses suited to future educational changes in cooperation with universities and planning a talent donation project involving about 50 participants by utilizing various networks.
Hosted by the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), this approximately one-hour seminar is an online video conference sharing the international situation facing serious challenges in continuing education due to COVID-19 and discussing solutions.
After Mayor Moon Seok-jin's presentation, participants from UNESCO Global Learning Cities will discuss excellent educational cases responding to COVID-19. The seminar video will be available on YouTube after the meeting ends.
