View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Busan City has decided to change the hiring method for jobs for people with disabilities based on its prolonged experience with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The city announced on the 20th that it plans to apply information and communication technology (ICT) to the field of jobs for people with disabilities to establish differentiated employment support strategies and provide sustainable job services for people with disabilities.
Until now, most jobs for people with disabilities have been concentrated in simple labor, manufacturing, and construction industries, limiting the types of industries. In particular, as COVID-19 has prolonged, urgent measures for jobs for people with disabilities have been needed. At the same time, considering the post-COVID 'Untact' trend, changes in the hiring method were also necessary.
The city first introduced non-face-to-face video interviews. Through untact (non-face-to-face) video interviews, nonstop employment support services will be provided. To this end, the city plans to install a dedicated video interview space within the Busan Disabled Job Integration Support Center to conduct company interviews and counseling for jobs for people with disabilities without restrictions on location and movement.
Starting next year, the city plans to enhance the employment capabilities of job-seeking people with disabilities by utilizing VR educational content and big data. Through interview training services, the VR interviewer will provide feedback on aspects such as the mock interviewee’s eye contact, average answer length, voice volume, and response speed.
The city also plans to introduce an 'Online Self-Introduction Completion Program' based on big data analysis technology. This system helps users easily and quickly write self-introduction letters based on personal experiences using keyword answers, and complete the letters through revisions and supplements with experts.
