Korea-Australia Foreign Ministers' Call... Exchange of Views on Cooperation in Response to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] On the afternoon of the 19th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha held a phone call with Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne to exchange views on cooperation measures in response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and bilateral issues.
Minister Kang and Minister Payne shared information on the measures each country has taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 and the current situation, while also evaluating that both countries have achieved results in responding to this infectious disease outbreak.
The two ministers also agreed on the need to prepare for similar situations in the future based on the lessons learned from this COVID-19 outbreak, and exchanged views on the necessity of support for vulnerable countries and regional quarantine cooperation.

Furthermore, the two ministers agreed to explore various ways to strengthen cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels, including through MIKTA, ahead of the 60th anniversary of Korea-Australia diplomatic relations in 2021.
