[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold the ‘2021 Gangdong Remote Smart Career and College Admission Fair’ from May 21 to June 20.

Due to COVID-19, the academic schedule has changed significantly, including delayed school openings, making it difficult to access career and college admission information across education, deepening concerns for examinees and parents.

In response, Gangdong-gu, which opened the first 3D virtual remote system Gangdong e-Studio among local governments nationwide, will hold the ‘2021 Gangdong Remote Smart Career and College Admission Fair’ using a real-time remote video system to conduct an online college admission strategy briefing and customized 1:1 video career, college admission, and major counseling.

This career and college admission fair will be held online for one month from May 21 to June 20.

On May 21 and 23, from 2 PM to 6 PM, the college admission strategy briefing will be broadcast through ‘Gangdong YouTube.’ Author Park Kwon-woo of ‘Eat Watermelon and Go to College’ will appear to analyze the 2021 admission strategies and explain the characteristics of major university admission types.

From May 25 to June 20, various processes of ‘1:1 Customized Online Career and College Admission Counseling’ with admission officers from major universities, college counseling teachers, and university student mentors will be operated.

From May 25 to June 10, admission officers from 10 major universities in the Seoul metropolitan area will provide customized admission counseling on university admission types, possible departments to apply for, and university-specific admission strategies.

From May 30 to June 20, every Saturday, 1:1 online counseling with teachers from the National College Admission Council is available. Comprehensive career and college admission counseling suitable for admission types, possible universities (departments), and individual student characteristics will be provided.

A program where university student mentors who have experienced practical university life provide counseling with specific and realistic cases of career choices is also prepared. It will be held for five days from June 15 to 19, with university student mentors from 13 major universities studying 15 majors including Economics, Psychology, Law, and Medicine.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “We are operating this remote smart career and college admission fair to provide high-quality customized career and college admission information while considering the safety of examinees and parents amid the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We expect that the 2021 college admission strategy briefing and various online counseling will relieve the thirst for educational information experienced by examinees and parents.”

This online career and college admission fair can be applied for on a first-come, first-served basis through the Gangdong-gu Self-Directed Learning Support Center website (http://slc.gangdong.go.kr).
