[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] Cha Eun-woo (23), a member of Astro, who visited Itaewon clubs in Yongsan-gu, Seoul during the 'social distancing' period to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), apologized in a handwritten letter.
On the 19th, Cha Eun-woo apologized on Astro's official social network service (SNS), saying, "I am sorry for causing concern to many people due to my careless behavior."
Cha Eun-woo said, "While many medical staff and citizens are still making great efforts to overcome COVID-19, I, who also participated in the 'Thanks Challenge,' deeply regret not following social distancing and carelessly gathering with acquaintances at restaurants and bars in Itaewon."
He continued, "I sincerely apologize for disappointing many people who have watched over me, as well as the fans who have trusted and supported me."
He added, "I will strive to become a person who thinks and acts more carefully in the future, as much as the precious love many people have shown me."
Previously, BTS's Jungkook, Seventeen's Mingyu, Astro's Cha Eun-woo, and NCT's Jaehyun caused controversy by visiting entertainment establishments in Itaewon, Seoul during the social distancing period.
They all underwent COVID-19 testing afterward and received negative results.
