Daewon Media Acquires Development and Distribution Rights for 'Marvel' Toys
Daewon Media announced on the 19th that it has signed a license agreement for the 'Marvel' brand with Walt Disney Company Korea. Based on the exclusive operational rights for toy development and distribution, the company will actively expand its toy business, including figures (items made of plastic, metal, wax, etc., modeled after characters from movies and comics). Last year, the company conducted toy distribution businesses for titles such as 'Frozen 2' and 'Toy Story 4'. A company representative stated, "Movies and characters sharing the Marvel universe, such as 'Avengers: Endgame,' are very popular in Korea," and added, "Interest in related products is also increasing, which is expected to help boost sales." In addition to distributing Marvel-related toys and games, Daewon Media plans to pursue publishing and One-Source Multi-Use (a method of maximizing added value by utilizing a single content across multiple media or through secondary works) businesses. Furthermore, the company will distribute the princess toy series for Disney's new release 'Mulan,' scheduled to premiere this year.
