View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] The United Future Party has decided to push for a government investigation into multiple allegations against Yoon Mi-hyang, the elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea, including accounting fraud and embezzlement of public funds related to the Justice and Memory Foundation.
On the 19th, Kim Seong-won, the United Future Party's senior deputy floor leader, told reporters, "This is an issue that has caused great public outrage," expressing the party's intention to proceed.
The United Future Party is expected to bring the government investigation on Yoon Mi-hyang to the table alongside negotiations over standing committee arrangements. The National Assembly can request a government investigation with the consent of at least one-quarter of its members. However, it must go through bipartisan agreement and a plenary session vote to be executed. Since the United Future Party does not hold a majority of seats, a government investigation is practically impossible without the Democratic Party's consent.
