Supreme Court Sentencing Commission to Revisit Sentencing Guidelines for 'Digital Sexual Crimes' Later
[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] On the 18th, the Supreme Court Sentencing Commission held a plenary meeting and decided to discuss the sentencing guidelines for digital sex crimes again at a later date.
Following the passage of the 'Sexual Violence Punishment Act Amendment' in the National Assembly plenary session on the 29th of last month, and with the 'Partial Amendment to the Youth Protection Act' also likely to pass in the future, it was agreed that it is appropriate to prepare sentencing guidelines reflecting these changes.
Accordingly, the Sentencing Commission will hold a meeting on July 13 to review the scope and classification of types related to the revised Articles 13 (Obscene Acts Using Communication Media) and 14 (Filming Using Cameras, etc.) of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
Furthermore, if the Youth Protection Act is amended, crimes involving child and youth sexual exploitation materials under the revised law will also be reviewed.
The Sentencing Commission plans to hold another meeting on September 14 to deliberate on the sentencing range, sentencing factors, and probation criteria related to the relevant bills.
