Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam, to Begin Construction of Independence Park This September ... Target Completion by September Next Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Yangsan City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that an Independence Park and Memorial Hall will be established in Chunchoo Park, a neighborhood park located in Gyodong.
Yangsan City is promoting the construction of the Independence Park, a memorial space honoring the spirit of anti-Japanese independence, with two underground floors and two aboveground floors. Construction is set to begin in September this year and is scheduled for completion in September next year.
The Independence Park will have a total project cost of 6.3 billion KRW and will be built on a 4,247㎡ site with a total floor area of 1,819㎡.
The park will include a permanent exhibition hall for displaying and preserving donated relics related to the history of the independence movement in Yangsan, as well as a relic organization room. The city recently held a mid-term report meeting on the detailed design project for the Independence Park construction. The meeting was attended by Mayor Kim Il-kwon and Park Jeong-su, Chairman of the Yangsan Anti-Japanese Independence Movement Memorial Project Association, among others.

Chunchoo Park already houses the Chungnyeolsa Shrine dedicated to anti-Japanese independence activists and a monument to Yun Hyeon-jin, an independence activist from Yangsan who served as the first finance deputy of the Shanghai Provisional Government.
