BMW New 5 and 6 Series, World Premiere in Incheon on the 27th
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] BMW Korea will unveil the new BMW 5 Series and 6 Series models on the Korean stage for the world’s first time.
BMW Korea announced on the 18th that the world premiere event for the new 5 Series and 6 Series will be held on the 27th at the BMW Driving Center in Yeongjongdo, Incheon. This is the first time in the history of imported cars in Korea that an entire model series, not just specific trims of a released model, is unveiled worldwide for the first time in Korea. Additionally, it is also the first time that two world premiere models are introduced simultaneously in Korea.
This is because, despite the originally planned unveiling at the 2020 Busan Motor Show being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BMW Group executives insisted on holding the unveiling event for these series in Korea. In November last year, BMW executives promised during their visit to Korea that the world premiere would be held in Korea.
While COVID-19 is spreading worldwide, the domestic imported car market is showing steady demand. BMW Group emphasized the importance of the Korean market during the pandemic and highly praised Korea’s COVID-19 prevention measures.
Also, the strong popularity of the 5 Series and 6 Series in Korea was cited as a reason for choosing Korea as the debut stage. In particular, the BMW 5 Series is a highly popular business sedan in Korea, with over 196,000 units sold from the establishment of BMW Korea in 1995 until April of this year.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, BMW Korea will conduct this event as a non-face-to-face, contactless event using the BMW Driving Center track. A BMW Korea official stated, “We are preparing a unique launch event tailored to the COVID era under the theme ‘DRIVE THE NEW NORM.’”
