US COVID-19 Deaths Surpass 90,000... Rising Trend Slows (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Suwan Kim] The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the United States has surpassed 90,000.
According to the statistics site Worldometer, as of 7 a.m. on the 18th, the cumulative number of deaths in the U.S. stands at 90,901, ranking first in the world by a wide margin.
Currently, the number of deaths in the U.S. is about three times higher than the second-ranked United Kingdom, which has 34,636 deaths.
However, the increase in deaths has significantly slowed. Deaths peaked at around 2,500 on the 6th and have been gradually decreasing since then.
Additionally, the number of deaths was 1,218 on the 16th and decreased further to 788 on the 17th.
Not only deaths but confirmed cases are also showing a downward trend.
Currently, the U.S. has recorded 1,524,506 confirmed cases, an increase of 16,733 from the previous day.
