Seven Eleven 'Local Farm Support Project Part 2'... Selling 2 Types of 'Muan Fresh Onions'
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Seven Eleven announced on the 17th that it will launch the second phase of its local farm support project with the introduction of ‘Muan Fresh Onions’.
Seven Eleven has partnered with Muan County in Jeollanam-do to sell onions produced by local onion farms through the Seven Eleven mobile app from the 18th to the 27th. The prepared products are two types: ‘Muan Fresh Onions 1kg (2,100 KRW)’ and ‘Muan Fresh Onions 2.5kg (5,100 KRW)’, offered at prices about 20% lower than the market price.
To further activate and systematize the sales of local agricultural products, Seven Eleven established a dedicated menu called ‘Seven Farm’ within the Seven app. After accessing the mobile app, customers can place a pre-order for Muan Fresh Onions in the ‘Seven Farm’ section under the ‘Reservation Order’ menu, selecting their preferred store and date for pickup. When the ordered product arrives at the designated store, a product exchange voucher message is sent to the customer, who can then visit the store to collect the item.
Earlier, at the end of April, Seven Eleven collaborated with Yeongcheon City in Gyeongsangbuk-do to support local farms struggling due to COVID-19 by offering ‘Peeled Garlic Large 1kg’ at a special price of 5,000 KRW through the Seven Eleven mobile app (Seven app). During that period, a total of 6 tons were sold, successfully concluding the ‘Yeongcheon Garlic Promotion’.
It is a very unusual achievement for a single item to reach sales of 6 tons within a short period of ten days through a mobile app rather than offline convenience store locations. Seven Eleven evaluated this as a result of the well-coordinated product planning intent, quality, and timing aimed at supporting local farms.
Starting with ‘Yeongcheon Peeled Garlic’ and now ‘Muan Fresh Onions,’ Seven Eleven plans to continuously carry out local agricultural product promotions to support farms affected by COVID-19 and to strengthen cooperation systems with local communities in the mid to long term.
