[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Japanese government has reportedly expressed its desire to share in South Korea's experience to effectively respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to NHK and other foreign media on the 16th, Kato Katsunobu, Japan's Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, said at a video conference held the previous afternoon with the health ministers of South Korea, China, and Japan, "Japan believes that the steady implementation of an exit strategy will become important going forward," and added, "It would be good to share the experiences of South Korea and China." He also stated, "Recently, the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths in the three countries has been suppressed compared to Europe and the United States, drawing attention from around the world."
According to Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Minister Kato expressed the opinion that "viruses have no borders, and it is important for South Korea, China, and Japan to cooperate even more closely."
The Japanese government lifted the state of emergency that had been declared in most of the 47 prefectures nationwide on the 14th. It is currently maintained only in eight prefectures, including Tokyo.

Participants in the video conference on the 15th included Park Neung-hoo, South Korea's Minister of Health and Welfare, and Ma Xiaowei, Director of China's National Health Commission. The three countries held the meeting and issued a joint statement agreeing to share knowledge and information related to COVID-19 responses, including testing, treatment drugs, and vaccines.
