AI Online Competition Held... 4.8 Billion KRW Support for 30 Companies
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 14th that it will hold the '2020 AI Online Competition,' a contest to showcase artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm development skills online.
This competition aims to expand the base of AI technology and select outstanding companies, universities, and individuals with excellent algorithm development capabilities to support AI-based commercialization. This year, a total of 4.8 billion KRW will be provided to 30 companies. Twenty problems focusing on video, language, and numerical processing fields, which are expected to have high commercialization potential and economic impact, will be presented online, and companies with excellent AI algorithm development and design skills will be selected.
Anyone interested in AI can participate. During the competition period, the Ministry of Science and ICT will provide participants with GPU-based computing resources effective for deep learning, training data, and an algorithm development environment. Registration will be open for two weeks from June 1st on the 'AI Hub (aihub.or.kr).' The competition schedule is from June 17th to 30th. Selected support targets will be announced in July, and commercialization support will begin in August.

Last year, 206 teams participated, showing a competition rate of 10.3 to 1. Twenty teams were finally selected and received 3.2 billion KRW in support.
