At the media day event held on the 13th at Lakewood Golf Club (par 72) in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, they said, "Due to COVID-19, we are unable to work with foreign caddies." Park Sung-hyun explained, "Since there is a self-quarantine period after entering Korea, I asked my caddie if he could come about a month earlier," adding, "Because the situation there is not good, a younger acquaintance will serve as my caddie for this tournament." Park Sung-hyun's caddie, David Jones, is from Ireland.

Park Sung-hyun said, "The situation in Ireland is not good, so it seems difficult for him to leave the house," and introduced, "A few days ago, he texted me saying, 'I promised to carry your golf bag until the end of your career, but this situation breaks my heart.'"
