Jeonbuk Province, "Apply for the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyung] Jeonbuk Province announced on the 13th that it will accept applications for the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment at the township, town, and neighborhood offices where the farmland is located until June 30.
This is because the related law for the implementation of the Public Interest Direct Payment passed the National Assembly at the end of December last year, and on the 21st, the entire revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Act on the Preservation of Agricultural Income for the implementation of the Public Interest Direct Payment System was finally approved at the Cabinet meeting.
The revision finalized the scope of small-scale farms, payment rates, and requirements, providing 1.2 million KRW annually to eligible farms, and area-based direct payments ranging from a maximum of 2.05 million KRW to a minimum of 1 million KRW per hectare to other farmers.
Additionally, with the implementation of the Public Interest Direct Payment System, recipients must comply with 17 mandatory activities across 5 areas, including environmental protection and food safety.
If the compliance requirements are not met, 10% of the total direct payment amount will be reduced for each violation. For repeated violations, reductions can be up to 40% of the total direct payment amount.
Compliance will be inspected from July to September, and the final direct payment is scheduled for November.
