[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Amid ongoing concerns that the COVID-19 cluster infection originating from Itaewon clubs in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, could lead to forced outing of sexual minorities, singer Harisu (45) urged, "Be sure to get tested."
On the 12th, Harisu posted on her Instagram, saying, "Don't think 'It's just me,' but for everyone's sake, please be sure to get tested."
That day, Harisu also shared a promotional photo encouraging diagnostic testing for visitors to Itaewon clubs and nearby areas issued by the government. She added, "If you get tested now, anonymity protection is possible, so please cooperate actively."
Earlier, it was revealed that among the Itaewon clubs where the COVID-19 cluster infection occurred, some facilities are mainly used by sexual minorities. Concerns arose that sexual minorities might delay testing due to fear of outing. Broadcaster Hong Seok-cheon also encouraged, saying, "I understand the worry about 'outing,' but now is the time to be brave."
