View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] On the 12th, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae will have dinner with frontline criminal division chiefs to discuss various prosecution issues.
According to the Ministry of Justice and the prosecution on that day, Minister Choo is scheduled to have dinner with chief prosecutors of the Criminal Division 1 from the Seoul and Gyeonggi metropolitan areas.
The Ministry of Justice is maintaining confidentiality regarding the scope and number of attendees. The dinner will also be held privately. However, it has been reported that the chief of the Criminal Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office was excluded from the attendees.
Typically, the chief prosecutor of Criminal Division 1 is the most senior division chief at each office.
At the dinner, Minister Choo is expected to listen to the difficulties faced by frontline chief prosecutors and seek opinions on the remaining directions for prosecution reform, such as the separation of investigation and prosecution functions.
Minister Choo has also held private meetings with heads of the Women and Children Crime Investigation Division at frontline prosecution offices regarding the Nth Room case.
Earlier, on February 21, Minister Choo had planned to hold a 'National Chief Prosecutors Meeting on Prosecution Reform' involving six high prosecutors' offices and 18 local prosecutors' offices nationwide.

At that meeting, Minister Choo intended to hear the opinions of chief prosecutors on the establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, adjustment of investigative authority between the prosecution and police, and the separation of investigation and prosecution decision-making within the prosecution, but the meeting was postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
