Jin Air Operates Temporary Flights for Transporting Filipino Residents
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Jin Air announced on the 11th that it has completed a charter flight operation to transport 183 Korean residents staying in the Philippines. According to Jin Air, its flight LJ714 departed Incheon Airport at 8:20 AM the previous day without passengers and arrived in Cebu at 11:46 AM (local time) on the same day. The aircraft then boarded 183 people, including Korean residents and international students, and arrived at Incheon Airport at 6:40 PM the same day.
This special flight was conducted through cooperation between Jin Air, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines, and the Korean Association. Local Korean residents had faced difficulties returning home due to the Philippine government's regional lockdown orders and flight restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Meanwhile, including this Cebu operation, Jin Air has operated a total of eight charter flights to Kota Kinabalu, Hanoi, and Johor Bahru. In March, it also added regular flights on the Cebu and Clark routes, helping about 2,300 Korean residents and international students return home so far.
