Providing a Space for Rest and Healing with Over 210 Korean Contemporary Artworks at the Old Government Building... Opening Ceremony of the Yeollin Museum Held on the 13th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) will hold the opening ceremony of the Gangdong-gu Office Open Art Museum 'Sometimes a Museum; Taking a Short Break' at 2 p.m. on the 13th.
Since March, the district office has been operating each floor of the government building as an exhibition space for artworks with different themes such as 'People and People,' 'Nature,' 'Time,' 'Relationships and Communication.'
The district office has been transformed into an open art museum themed on 'Rest and Healing' to break down the high walls of culture and arts and to comfort the tired hearts of residents visiting the office and busy employees handling public affairs.
This opening ceremony was prepared to invite medical staff and local volunteers who have worked hard to overcome COVID-19 to the 'Gangdong-gu Open Art Museum' to provide healing and psychological immunity through culture and arts.
Along with the opening ceremony, there will be an 'Art Exhibition Rounding' where attendees can listen to explanations of the artworks by Gallery Y’s CEO Kim Yong-im, and an 'Open Yard Healing Concert' featuring diverse music such as Beethoven Virus, Beautiful Country, and Kim Kwang-seok Medley.
Through the Open Art Museum, the district plans to exhibit about 210 works by famous artists who are actively working in the Korean contemporary art scene until the end of the year, and operate programs such as 'District Office Museum Tour' for 3rd-grade students of 25 elementary schools in the area, and 'Docent Museum Tour' for 90 elementary, middle, and high school students.
Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, said, “I hope the Gangdong-gu Open Art Museum will be a space where the residents, medical staff, and volunteers who are leading the fight against COVID-19 can comfort their tired hearts and take a short break in their daily lives.”
