Apartment Security Workers Are Also Someone's Family!
Mutual Growth Agreement for Employment Stability, Prevention of Assault and Power Abuse, and Improvement of Working Conditions for Security Workers... On the 13th, Signed 'Mutual Respect and Consideration Community Culture Promotion Agreement' with 22 Local Apartments
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) announced that amid deepening employment insecurity for workers due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19, it will sign the "Agreement to Foster a Culture of Mutual Respect and Consideration for a Win-Win Community" on the 13th at 4 p.m. in the Gonggam Planning Office on the 4th floor of Yangcheon-gu Office.
Recently, unfortunate news such as assaults on security workers, unfair interference or orders by residents, and unfair dismissals have been reported through the media. As a result, it has become increasingly important to establish measures for relief and employment stability when employees engaged in apartment complex management work, such as management office staff and cleaners, suffer damages during work.
Accordingly, through the "Agreement to Foster a Culture of Mutual Respect and Consideration for a Win-Win Community," the district promises to create a culture of mutual respect and consideration between apartment complex residents and security workers, as well as among residents themselves, striving to become a win-win community.
This year, the agreement ceremony is scheduled to be held with a total of 22 apartment complexes, including Mokdong Apartments, and 230 security workers.
Since 2018, the district has signed win-win agreements with 23 complexes, supported the installation of 292 air conditioners in security offices across 27 complexes (amounting to 116 million KRW), and supported the installation of security workers' rest areas in 3 complexes (32 million KRW), making efforts to improve the working conditions of security workers.
According to the agreement, apartments will strive to promote employment stability and improve working conditions for security workers and create revitalized communities, while the district will provide administrative information and policies respecting the labor rights of security workers and support the installation costs for air conditioners and rest areas in security offices.
Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "In a district where more than 54% of housing consists of apartment complexes, I hope this will contribute even a little to creating a residential culture where security workers and residents can coexist harmoniously, building a society where we live well together." He added, "We will strive to make Yangcheon a great place to work for everyone, including security workers."
