Recruiting 25 Youth Reporters Until May 29... Tasks Include Selecting Peace and Unification Topics, Writing Articles, and Publishing Newspaper Until October

Geumcheon-gu, Recruiting Peace Wings Youth Reporters Team

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is recruiting the ‘Peace Wings Reporters’ as part of Seoul’s peace and unification education project to enhance youth sensitivity toward peace and unification.

The district is recruiting 25 youths from 4th grade elementary to 2nd grade middle school by the 29th. Any youth residing in the district or attending a school located in the district can apply for the reporter group.

Youths wishing to participate can download the application form from the ‘Geumcheon News’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, fill it out, and submit it via email to the person in charge at gkfn1539@geumcheon.go.kr.

The selected ‘Peace Wings Reporters’ will hold an inauguration ceremony in June and engage in activities until October, including education and field experiences on peace and unification, selecting topics, writing articles, and ultimately publishing the peace and unification newspaper ‘Wings.’

In October, when the activities conclude, a ‘Peace Wings Talk Concert’ will be held to review the activities so far, and participants will also take part in a unification trip.

The district plans to feature outstanding articles written by the ‘Peace Wings Reporters’ in the Geumcheon newsletter ‘Geumcheon Hyanggi.’

Last year, the district operated the first ‘Wings Reporters’ group composed of 20 local youths, conducted peace and unification writing education, visited the War Memorial, took a peace trip to Ganghwa Island, and carried out article writing activities as part of the peace and unification education project to foster a consensus on peace and unification among future generations.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I expect the activities of the ‘Peace Wings Reporters’ to be a great opportunity for youths, who will be the leaders of the upcoming unification era, to cultivate leadership and enhance sensitivity to peace,” adding, “I hope the peace and unification newspaper ‘Wings’ will be a starting point that connects divided regions and generations.”
