This event was organized to secure fishery resources in coastal waters and to establish a foundation for the nationwide sea fishing competition held annually in Jangheung-gun.
The county purchased high-quality juveniles produced at a private hatchery for this release. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the release event was scaled down and conducted mainly with residents of the fishing village.
In particular, after the event, attendees pledged not to use any illegal fishing gear under any circumstances to ensure that all the juvenile fish can grow fully.
The black porgy, which inhabits large numbers in Deukryang Bay, Jangheung-gun, is a coastal species that mainly lives in waters less than 40 to 50 meters deep with abundant seaweed, and is a popular species among sea anglers.
