Samsung C&T Proposes Creating a Natural Forest Three Times the Size of a Soccer Field in Banpo 3rd District

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] Samsung C&T Construction Division proposed to the union on the 11th to create a natural forest three times the size of a soccer field in Banpo Apartment Complex 3rd District (hereinafter Banpo 3rd District) in Banpo-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

According to Samsung C&T, they first plan to create a 20,000㎡ natural forest, about three times the size of a soccer field, in the center of the complex. They aim to design landscaping that increases in value over time by creating a natural forest rarely found in apartment complexes.

To this end, they will apply the landscaping know-how of Raemian, which has won the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) award seven times, and collaborate with Supermass Studio, a next-generation landscaping group from New York.

Between the dense natural forest, they plan to create a natural lake reminiscent of New York's Central Park, along with water play facilities.

Banpo Stream, connected to the Han River, will be designed as a cultural space where residents can enjoy walking and leisure through differentiated landscape and water quality improvements.

To improve the water quality of Banpo Stream, they will cooperate with the Environmental Ecology Research Institute of the University of Seoul, an advisory group for restoring the Han River waterfront ecosystem. They plan to restore the Banpo Stream ecosystem through systematic water purification methods, including water purification facilities.

They will create an approximately 5 km riverside walking network connecting Banpo Stream and the Han River from the complex, leveraging the unique advantages of Banpo 3rd District.
