Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Application Opens on Card Company Websites at 7 AM on the 11th
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] The application for government emergency disaster relief funds via credit and debit cards to support living expenses amid the COVID-19 pandemic will begin at 7 a.m. on the 11th. Applications can be made online through the individual card companies' websites.
According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 10th, the eligible card companies are KB Kookmin Card, NH Nonghyup Card, Lotte Card, BC Card, Samsung Card, Shinhan Card, Woori Card, Hana Card, and Hyundai Card.
The disaster relief funds began to be distributed to vulnerable groups starting from the 4th. Other citizens can receive the funds in the form of credit/debit card points, local love gift certificates, or prepaid cards.
Offline applications for emergency disaster relief funds via credit/debit cards will be available from 9 a.m. on the 18th at commercial bank branches linked to the cards.
Applications for gift certificates and prepaid cards will be accepted both online and offline starting at 9 a.m. on the 18th. Online applications can be made through each local government's website, and offline applications can be submitted at the resident centers of the applicant's address.
The specific application schedules and methods for gift certificates and prepaid cards may vary by local government. In the case of Seoul, online applications for gift certificates will be accepted starting from the 11th.
Since the emergency disaster relief funds are provided on a household basis rather than individually, the head of the household can apply. The household is based on the residents registered as of March 29.
Eligibility as a head of household and the number of household members for the emergency disaster relief funds can be checked on the emergency disaster relief fund website. A certified digital signature is required.
Both eligibility checks and applications apply a day-of-the-week system similar to that used for public masks. If the last digit of the head of household's birth year is 1 or 6, they can check and apply on Monday; 2 or 7 on Tuesday; 3 or 8 on Wednesday; 4 or 9 on Thursday; and 5 or 0 on Friday.
