Through an article on the same day, CNN reported that in a world changed by COVID-19, two countries, South Korea and Germany, are widely recognized as models for pandemic response methods.
CNN stated, "Although the two countries have distinctly different approaches, both are in an enviable position to ease lockdowns with some confidence that infections will not immediately surge again."
As reasons for South Korea's efficient response, CNN cited extensive testing, aggressive contact tracing, strict public health measures, and a combination of digital technologies that helped suppress the spread without a full lockdown.
In particular, CNN mentioned that the South Korean government recently recommended refraining from operating entertainment facilities following the Itaewon cluster infection, explaining that appropriate and cautious measures are being taken.
Peter Drobac, a health expert at the Sa?d Business School of the University of Oxford, said, "Testing, tracing, and isolation are easy to say but difficult to enforce. Looking at South Korea's tough response, these are wonderful lessons that can be directly emulated."
CNN also evaluated Germany's COVID-19 response as successful.
Although Germany still reports several hundred new daily cases, it has an efficient testing, tracing, and isolation system, allowing it to manage the situation while gradually easing lockdown measures.

Drobac said, "Germany institutionalized a mechanism that automatically halts the easing of social distancing if new cases exceed 50 per 100,000 people. Whether this method will be effective is uncertain, but based on current evidence, it appears to be a wise approach."
