Suncheon-si Recruiting Students for 'Companion Animal Mediator Training Course'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeonnam announced on the 8th that it is recruiting students for a training course for citizens living with companion animals to become ‘Companion Animal Mediated Activity Managers,’ a promising profession in the 4th Industrial Revolution era, until the 13th.
The ‘Companion Animal Mediated Activity Manager’ refers to a mediator therapy assistant who can help people experiencing psychological difficulties together with trained mediator activity dogs. They are also volunteers who visit schools, hospitals, and social welfare facilities in need of healing, providing comfort and happiness to people through play activities with animals.
The training course is conducted to provide animal training education so that companion animals can work as mediator therapy dogs and to qualify as managers who can handle mediator therapy dogs. After completing the training and passing an evaluation, participants can obtain the qualification of Companion Animal Mediated Activity Manager.
The training will be held a total of 11 times from the 13th to July 22nd at the Agricultural Education Center training room in Deokwol-dong, Suncheon City, every Wednesday from 6 PM to 9 PM, combining theory and practice.

A Suncheon City official said, “Through the training to foster Companion Animal Mediated Activity Managers, we will strive to create a happy Suncheon by conducting healing activities in schools, children’s and elderly facilities, and social welfare facilities where companion animal mediated activities are needed, along with obtaining certification.”
