Nurse at Seongnam City Medical Center Confirmed COVID-19 Positive After Visiting Itaewon
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] A nurse (26, Sujeong-gu Sujin-dong) at Seongnam City Medical Center in Gyeonggi tested positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The nurse experienced a sore throat on the 6th and underwent a COVID-19 test after a specimen was collected at the Seongnam City Medical Center screening clinic on the 7th.
A Sujeong-gu Public Health Center official stated, "The confirmed nurse reported that she visited several pubs in Itaewon in the early morning of the 2nd," adding, "We are currently verifying whether these pubs are the same as those visited by a confirmed patient from Yongin."
The nurse worked in the isolation ward on the 9th floor of Seongnam City Medical Center until the end of last month and started working in the operating room on the 3rd floor from the 6th.
It has been confirmed that she did not work during the holiday period from the 1st to the 5th.
Accordingly, health authorities have closed the hospital's operating room and are conducting COVID-19 tests while quarantining medical staff, including five anesthesiologists who worked in the operating room.
They are also identifying the nurse's detailed movements and contacts.
