Hyundai and Kia Motors Win 5 Main Awards at the '2020 New York Festival' Advertising Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Motors announced on the 8th that they won a total of five main awards at the '2020 New York Festival,' one of the world's top three international advertising festivals.
The 'Smart Park' TV commercial produced by Hyundai Motor America (HMA) won three main awards in the filming technology category, including two golds and one silver.
In the detailed subcategories of filming technology, it received two gold awards for 'Best Sense of Humor' and 'Casting,' and a silver award for 'Script and Copywriting.'
The 60-second TV commercial 'Smart Park' aired during the Super Bowl broadcast in February, the championship game of the U.S. National Football League (NFL). Hollywood actors Chris Evans, John Krasinski, Rachel Dratch from Boston, USA, and David Ortiz, former player of the Boston Red Sox baseball team, were shown expressing amazement at the Sonata's Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) feature. Thanks to viewers' positive response, this commercial ranked 2nd in USA Today's 'Super Bowl Ad Preference Survey,' which evaluated 62 commercials aired during this year's Super Bowl.
Hyundai's digital advertisement 'Rear View Monitor' and Kia Motors Germany Division (KMD)'s print advertisement 'Granis' won bronze awards in the video and print categories, respectively.
This is not Hyundai's first time winning at the New York Festival. Last year, the brand experience pavilion created for the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics won a silver award in the design category.
Previously, in 2018, the global brand campaign 'Explorer Shackleton, Fulfilling the 100-Year Dream of Crossing Antarctica' won one silver and two bronze awards.
