Korean Air Resumes Operations on 19 International Routes in June... Supply Only 20% of Normal Levels
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korean Air, which plans to resume some North America routes next month, has also decided to resume flights on some suspended European and Asian routes.
Korean Air announced on the 7th that from June 1 to June 30, it will operate 32 out of its total 110 routes (146 flights per week). This is more than double the 13 routes (55 flights per week) operated this month.
Specifically, in Europe, flights to Amsterdam and Frankfurt (3 times per week) will resume, while flights to Paris (from 2 to 4 times per week) and London (from 2 to 3 times per week) will increase. In Asia, flights will resume on 13 routes including Kuala Lumpur, Yangon, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Singapore, Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai (Pudong), Guangzhou, Mudanjiang, Qingdao, Yanji, and Ulaanbaatar. Additionally, flights to Shenyang (from 1 to 4 times per week) and Phnom Penh (from 2 to 4 times per week) will increase. Korean Air had previously decided to resume suspended North American routes such as Washington, Seattle, Toronto (3 times per week), and Vancouver (4 times per week) starting in June.
The company explained that the resumed or increased routes are those with abundant passenger and cargo demand, capable of generating sufficient synergy effects. Regarding the June flight plan, Korean Air stated, "This is a proactive response to the increase in passenger demand following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in each country," and added, "We prioritized routes that can create synergy through both passenger and cargo operations."
