SK General Chemicals Participates in Relay Campaign to Support Flower Farmers
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] SK General Chemical participated in the "Flower Farmers Support Relay Campaign," aimed at helping flower farmers.
This campaign is a relay flower purchasing initiative to support flower farmers whose sales channels were blocked due to the cancellation of various events such as entrance and graduation ceremonies caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). It has attracted much attention as CEOs from the business community have been participating one after another. SK General Chemical joined this campaign upon the nomination of Ilsin Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., a client company with whom they have had a 30-year partnership.
Ilsin Chemical Industry Co., Ltd., a leading domestic company producing agricultural films, purchased 2,000 roses on the 8th to support flower farmers who were hit hard by COVID-19 during the peak flower consumption months of February to April. SK General Chemical participated in this campaign together, embodying the meaning of "coexisting with the customers of their customers," thereby further spreading warm sharing.
SK General Chemical conducted the campaign by delivering the purchased flowers as gifts to elderly people living alone who may feel even lonelier during Family Month. As COVID-19 prolongs, elderly people, who spend more time alone due to the closure of welfare facilities and reduction of care services, are currently experiencing greater difficulties in social isolation. In May, Family Month, especially on Parents' Day when families gather, SK General Chemical decided to present carnations filled with heartfelt sentiments to these elderly individuals.
On this day, a flower delivery ceremony was held at Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center, attended by SK General Chemical President Na Kyung-soo, employees, Director Tak Woo-sang of Seodaemun Senior Welfare Center, and care workers, to deliver carnations.
The prepared potted carnations were sent to nine welfare centers located in Seoul, Daejeon, Jeungpyeong, Ulsan, and other areas where SK Innovation affiliate business sites are located. They will be delivered to 1,020 elderly people living alone who have formed bonds with SK General Chemical and other SK Innovation affiliate members.
