Starting with Chadol Yukgaejang, Premium Products to Be Launched Sequentially
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] CJ CheilJedang, which has maintained the No. 1 position in the soup-based home meal replacement (HMR) market for three consecutive years, is solidifying its lead by expanding its portfolio with premium product lines.
On the 7th, CJ CheilJedang announced the launch of ‘Bibigo Chadol Yukgaejang (500g, 4,980 KRW),’ an upgraded version of its representative soup dish ‘Bibigo Yukgaejang.’ This premium product was introduced to meet the rising expectations of consumers and to expand new demand.
Unlike the existing ‘Bibigo Yukgaejang,’ ‘Bibigo Chadol Yukgaejang’ uses large slices of chadol-yangji (brisket point) instead of brisket and increases the meat content by more than four times. CJ CheilJedang applied its raw material control technology to preserve the original texture of the chadol-yangji. This allows the soft texture and large form of the freshly added chadol to be retained in the yukgaejang.
While the existing product had the typical spicy broth flavor of yukgaejang, ‘Bibigo Chadol Yukgaejang’ features a clean yet rich meat broth made by adding three types of vegetable stocks to beef bone broth simmered for eight hours. Its mild soup flavor makes it suitable for the whole family to enjoy, and it is expected to be popular among households with school-age children, the main consumers of soup dishes.
Starting with ‘Bibigo Chadol Yukgaejang’ this year, CJ CheilJedang plans to sequentially introduce premium versions of its existing steady-seller products to grow the premium HMR soup market. While the company has diversified its products by introducing various dining-style and seafood menus based on differentiated technology, this year it will focus on leading market expansion with premium products that meet the higher expectations of consumers.
