Gwanak-gu Selected as Final Winner in Ministry of the Interior and Safety Smart Service Support Project Competition
Among Seoul's autonomous districts, 13 integrated childcare centers for children with disabilities selected independently, serving 909 children... Contributing to the creation of a safe smart city Gwanak by eliminating child safety blind spots through advanced technology
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) announced that it has been finally selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's public contest project, 'Support for Smart Services Utilizing Advanced Technology.'
This project is a public contest led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to solve local problems using advanced technology and to innovate public services for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and disabled.
Depending on the size of the local government and the application of new technologies, the project is divided into three types: ▲ Public Service Blind Spot Type ▲ Town Formation Type ▲ Smart Community Type (Gonggam e-Gadeuk). Gwanak-gu applied for the Smart Community Type and achieved the remarkable feat of being the only autonomous district in Seoul to be selected.
As part of expanding child safety-related policies following its designation as a UNICEF Child-Friendly City in 2020, the district submitted the task of establishing the 'Integrated Disability Childcare Center Smart Guardian Service' and was selected, receiving a special grant of 100 million KRW.
The 'Integrated Disability Childcare Center Smart Guardian Service' is a project that prevents children from going missing during outdoor activities at childcare centers through a movement detection system and enhances emergency response by linking with integrated control centers and police stations.
It will be implemented for 13 integrated disability childcare centers in the region, covering 909 children. With the increase in dual-income families and the emphasis on outdoor learning, it is expected to strengthen child safety and reduce the workload of childcare teachers.
Additionally, a 'Self-Solution Team' composed of parents and childcare center staff will be formed to actively participate in all processes from project planning to service introduction, installation, and identification of improvement points, providing a demand-centered advanced technology service.
Starting in May, the project will be carried out with a total budget of 200 million KRW, including 100 million KRW in special grants, and 50 million KRW each from city and district funds. In the future, it will be applied to general childcare centers as well, accelerating the creation of an innovative smart city, Gwanak.
