Director Jeong Jin-young's Debut Film 'Close to You' Set for June Release
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Jung Jin-young's directorial debut film, 'Close to You' (working title), is set for release in June.
According to multiple film industry insiders on the 6th, the production and distribution companies of 'Close to You' have been reviewing the release date amid the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) situation, and after discussions, they have decided on June and have begun preparations.
'Close to You' tells the story of a detective investigating a fire incident in a rural village who encounters a shocking situation and seeks the truth behind it. It is a work that Jung Jin-young has long devoted himself to writing and is making his directorial debut with.
Actor Jo Jin-woong stars in the lead role, joined by Bae Soo-bin, Cha Soo-yeon, and Jung Hae-kyun. BA Entertainment, which directed films such as 'Tunnel' (2016) and 'The Outlaws' (2017), and Dani Film are producing, with Ace Maker Movie Works handling distribution.
Previously, the film attracted strong industry attention by being invited to overseas film festivals such as the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (BAFICI) in Argentina.
The first Korean film to be released after the COVID-19 outbreak is expected to be 'Intruder' (directed by Son Won-pyung), starring Song Ji-hyo and Kim Moo-yeol, which opens on the 21st. Additionally, major new releases are also seeking release dates, signaling a revival in the cinema industry.
