Gwangju Nam-gu and KAMCO Agree on Joint Solution to Activate Office Building Leasing
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) and Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) have agreed to maintain a mutually organic cooperative relationship to revitalize the rental of the Nam-gu General Government Building.
According to Nam-gu on the 6th, District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae recently visited the headquarters of Korea Asset Management Corporation in Busan and had a discussion with President Moon Seong-yu and Lee Bu-seong, Director of the National Property Southern Development Office.
At this meeting, District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae strongly requested that Korea Asset Management Corporation faithfully fulfill its obligations to revitalize the building rental.
He also emphasized that efforts are underway to solve the chronic parking lot problem of the Nam-gu General Government Building by utilizing the former Veterans Hospital, and with the Baegun Square Urban Regeneration New Deal Project being promoted, the future vision is bright, so the issue of revitalizing the Nam-gu General Government Building rental must be resolved promptly within this year.
In response, Korea Asset Management Corporation expressed its willingness to actively cooperate in jointly resolving this issue.
First, regarding the 'Nam-gu Government Building Rental Revitalization TF Team Participation' requested by District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae, Korea Asset Management Corporation has in principle agreed to participate by dispatching employees from its headquarters.
The specific joining time is expected to be around the 20th, and the Director of the National Property Southern Development Office of the Public Development Headquarters of Korea Asset Management Corporation is expected to visit the Nam-gu Office.
Along with this, after listening to plans under review by the district office for revitalizing the Nam-gu General Government Building, such as media facades using the building's exterior walls, G-glass installation, and circular pedestrian overpass installation, additional ideas were proposed, including installing rock climbing courses considering the demand of younger generations.

District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae said, “Korea Asset Management Corporation has also agreed to actively engage with our proposals and confirmed their willingness to jointly resolve the issue by participating in the TF team. We will strengthen the cooperative relationship to find a breakthrough so that the rental issue of the Nam-gu General Government Building can be resolved promptly.”
