11st Partners with Jeju Nonghyup for Exclusive Sale of 'First Harvest' Tangerines, Garlic, and Onions
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] 11st announced on the 6th that it will exclusively sell online the first harvested Jeju greenhouse tangerines, fresh garlic, and fresh onions of the year in collaboration with Jeju Nonghyup.
Onion and garlic producers, who suffered significant damage due to price collapse last year, are still expected to face difficulties this year due to decreased agricultural product consumption caused by the spread of COVID-19, a sharp decline in cultivation area, and the influx of imported products. In response, 11st and Jeju Nonghyup have launched an online agricultural product sales promotion to support local farmers.
The three types of fresh Jeju agricultural products on sale this time can be purchased at prices about 10-20% lower than the market price until the 10th. The Jeju greenhouse tangerines, cultivated without herbicides, are high-quality tangerines with a sugar content of over 11 Brix, priced at 28,900 KRW (2.5kg).
Jeju fresh garlic is of the Nanji type (Namdo variety), characterized by a strong pungent and spicy flavor unique to garlic. The price is 12,900 KRW for half a box (50 pieces). Jeju fresh onions, which boast a crisp taste compared to storage onions, are priced at 10,900 KRW (4kg). Additionally, customers can purchase at even lower prices by receiving an NH Card exclusive 20% discount coupon (up to 10,000 KRW discount on purchases over 5,000 KRW).
The product detail page introduces not only the appearance and cultivation methods of each producing farm but also photos of the farmers who are the sellers.
Last month, 11st and Jeju Nonghyup signed a win-win cooperation agreement to revitalize the online distribution of Jeju agricultural and livestock products. This fresh agricultural product sale is the first result following the agreement. 11st MDs are continuing various attempts, such as visiting Jeju livestock farms directly to prepare exclusive Jeju black pork products.
Im Hyundong, head of the 11st Mart department, said, “Although the overall distribution of agricultural products has been greatly contracted due to COVID-19, we have prepared fresh and high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices as this is the first jointly planned product launched after the cooperation agreement with Jeju Nonghyup.” He added, “We will continue to hold events according to the shipping season and supply-demand adjustment situation for each item to contribute to stabilizing the supply and demand of agricultural products and securing sales channels for farmers.”
