BTS Delivers Congratulatory Speech at YouTube 'Virtual Graduation Ceremony'
Former U.S. President Barack Obama, Singer Lady Gaga, and Others Also Participate
The group BTS will deliver congratulatory speeches alongside former U.S. President Barack Obama, singer Lady Gaga, and others at an online "virtual graduation ceremony" event.
According to their agency Big Hit Entertainment on the 6th, BTS will participate as speakers at the virtual graduation ceremony "Dear Class of 2020," hosted by YouTube in the United States on July 6 (local time). This is an online streaming event released through YouTube Originals. It was organized to celebrate college and high school students around the world, along with their families, who could not look forward to graduation ceremonies this year due to the spread of COVID-19. This is the first time YouTube has held a graduation event.
The event features congratulatory speeches from BTS, former President Obama and his wife Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate, former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and others. Singers Alicia Keys and Kelly Rowland, actress Kerry Washington, singer Zendaya, and singer Chloe x Halle will also participate.
BTS, the only Koreans included on the list, will also perform a celebratory performance with several artists at the after-party following the graduation ceremony. Susan Daniels, YouTube’s Head of Global Content, said, "Influential figures and the artists most favored by graduates will come together in one place," adding, "We hope this will be a great encouragement to the students who have worked so hard."
