Dongwon Home Food Launches Premium Salad Cafe 'Crispy Fresh'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Dongwon Home Food announced on the 6th that it will launch a premium salad cafe, ‘Crispy Fresh’.
Crispy Fresh is a name that means crispy (Crispy) and fresh (Fresh) salad, and it is a cafe brand specializing in premium salads as a healthy meal replacement.
The culture of enjoying salads as a meal replacement continues to grow. According to the '2019 Processed Food Submarket Status Report' released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs last year, the shipment scale of fresh convenience foods including salads, convenient fruits, and sprout vegetables increased by 48% from 110 billion KRW in 2016 to 163 billion KRW in 2017, and increased by 20% to 195.6 billion KRW in 2018 compared to the previous year. Last year, it greatly surpassed 200 billion KRW, and the growth trend is expected to continue this year as well.
Crispy Fresh’s salads are made with ingredients directly produced and quality-controlled by each affiliate of the Dongwon Group. It uses premium tuna caught by Dongwon Industries, the largest seafood company in Korea, fresh and high-quality Norwegian salmon, as well as ‘Cheongmichae,’ a pesticide-free hydroponic vegetable brand grown without soil by Eoseok, an agricultural joint venture of Dongwon Group, and differentiated sauces from Samjo Seltech, the number one seasoning manufacturer in Korea under Dongwon Home Food.
The signature menu consists of 15 types of salads featuring Cheongmichae as the core ingredient, paired with tuna, salmon, avocado, meat, ricotta cheese, and more. It is offered in various forms such as Hawaiian-style salad ‘Poke,’ which is filled generously with vegetables, meat, and grains; ‘Plate,’ which pairs grilled meat or fish with salad; and ‘Bowl Salad,’ where various ingredients are mixed in a bowl. Especially, various superfoods like oats, quinoa, and beans are provided as toppings, enriching the nutrition even more. In addition, customers can enjoy fresh cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and various beverages, as well as ‘Truffle Mushroom Soup’ and ‘Veggie Tomato Soup’ made with mushrooms and tomatoes, respectively.
Crispy Fresh offers consumers a sense of relaxation in daily life with its nature-friendly interior that resembles a farm. At the store entrance, a display space with floor-to-ceiling glass is set up so customers can see fresh Cheongmichae directly, and the open kitchen style reveals fresh ingredients and a clean cooking process to build trust with customers. Take-out service is also available, allowing customers to conveniently enjoy premium salads at home or in the office after purchasing them at the store.
The first store is located on the basement first floor of Delight Square near Hapjeong Station in Mapo-gu, Seoul, an area with heavy foot traffic. To celebrate the launch of Crispy Fresh, Dongwon Home Food is holding a discount event until the 31st, where all menu items can be purchased at a 20% discounted price. Various products will also be conveniently available for delivery orders through ‘The Banchan,’ Dongwon Home Food’s fresh HMR specialized online mall, from mid-month onward.
