On the 12th, on Naver TV
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Art Center Incheon will broadcast online the performance of the world-renowned early music ensemble Freiburger Barockorchester on the 12th at 8 PM via Naver TV.
The Freiburger Barockorchester performance was originally planned as the opening work of the 2020 season at Art Center Incheon but was canceled due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Art Center Incheon said it is easing the disappointment through online streaming and is resuming plans for next year's scheduled performances.
The Freiburger Barockorchester performance can be viewed on the 12th by searching the performance name on Naver TV or through the popup link on Art Center Incheon's website.
This performance is a live recording from the recital held on March 10th at the Melbourne Recital Centre in Australia, and the program is the same as the season opening performance originally planned to be held exclusively in Korea by Art Center Incheon. Since this year marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, the orchestra will perform Beethoven's Piano Concertos No. 1, 2, and 3, with pianist Christian Bezuijdenhout participating on the fortepiano.
The Freiburger Barockorchester is an ensemble founded from the unique and improvisational musical inspirations of students from the Freiburg region music university in Germany. Since its first performance in 1987, it has delivered historically significant performances and gained worldwide fame. It performs various series in Freiburg, Stuttgart, and Berlin in Germany and is continuously invited to prestigious concert halls worldwide, recognized as a leading early music ensemble.
The orchestra has also distinguished itself in recording projects, winning numerous awards including three German Record Critics' Awards, two Gramophone Awards, three Edison Classical Music Awards, and two Classical Brit Awards through collaboration with the Harmonia Mundi label, and has been nominated for a Grammy Award. Led by artistic director Gottfried von der Goltz, the ensemble actively performs worldwide, spanning Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical music.
Pianist Christian Bezuijdenhout is a keyboard performer currently gaining attention for his mastery of fortepiano, harpsichord, and modern piano. He began gaining international recognition after winning the Bruges Fortepiano Competition in Belgium at age 21. He is regularly invited to perform with prestigious ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants and the Enlightenment Orchestra, engaging in diverse performance activities.
